In 2017, Dior dropped the Pre-Fall collection as always, maybe you’re wondering ‘big deal Dior dropped a new collection in 2017, happens every year’ totally agree BUT there’s a big but there, this new collection had something that was going to cause a huge scandal in the fashion world.

To understand the whole story you have to go back to the beginning. So Romania has a really unique and complex traditional wear, Dior must have been really inspired by that ,so for their new Pre-Fall collection in 2017 they did a very similar if not identical coat/vest. The Romanian designers saw the new drop and recognized the folk patterns used for hundreds of years and generations in Romania, they also noticed that Dior took full credit for the clothing piece and didn’t give any to the hard working people who make the traditional clothing handmade.

La Blouse Roumaine got very offended and made fun of the Christian Dior fashion house for making models wear heals instead of the traditional flats. Apparently the Romanians got to pissed off that they launched the Bihor Couture Campaign as a way to fight against big fashion houses and brands that think there’s no consequences to stealing peoples traditions without giving them as much as a simple credit and taking all the money that people spend buying the original pieces that Dior took as “inspiration” and giving all of it to the local communities that hand makes all of the pieces.

Dior really said copy paste to that coat because it took all of the details from the traditional and original ones, if you don’t believe me let me give you an example and I’ll let you decide who did it “better”.

I know right? That looks IDENTICAL. Totally not my style even though I’m Romanian but I think I have some pictures my mom took of me when I was wearing one of these. Of course not the Dior one cause who’s paying 30.000$ for a vest with stolen design on it, you won’t see me doing that any time soon.
